Mountain Home Tigers fall short at district golf tournament

The golf season ended for the Mountain Home girls and boys golf teams at the District Tournament at Falcon Crest last Monday.

The Mountain Home girls golf team finished in fifth place at district.

Middleton won the event with a team total of 363, Bishop Kelly was a distant second at 390, Skyview was third with a 430 score, Nampa came in fourth at 460, Mountain Home was fifth with a 485, Columbia came in at 562, Kuna at 565 and Emmett shot a 576.

Alicen Wendall led the Mountain Home team, shooting a 106. Kelsey Egusquiza shot a 116, Shelby Stevens came in with a 129 and Melanie Bate shot a 134.

Middleton also won the boys district competition, shooting a 312. Bishop Kelly took second with a 325, Columbia was third with 340, Mountain Home came in fourth with a 346, followed by Skyview at 361, Nampa with a 387, Emmett 403 and Kuna with 417.

Stephen Elliott led the Mountain Home scores with an 85. Brent Sexauer, Clint Butori and Zach Pomerantz all shot an 87.

Only the top three teams advanced to the State 4A Golf Tournament held May 17-18 at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Rathdrum.

The Tiger boys JV golf team had a good district finish, shooting a 181 over nine holes, just one shot behind Columbia, who won the JV tournament.

Jeff Land led the Mountain Home JV squad with a score of 40, which tied him for medalist honors. Derek Doerr carded a 45, Doug Zielnicki came in with a 47, Cole Zamora shot a 49 and Mike Parkinson carded a 50.
