Great candidates, choices

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Dear editor:

I have watched the current political goings on with a lot of interest. I think we have some really great candidates running in many of our races this upcoming primary on May 25.

I have formed some opinions about most of them. One candidate in particular I have watched with much interest. I think she has what we are looking for. Marla Lawson will be a fine senator for District 22.

I have looked at where she stands on many issues and I pretty much agree with all her positions. She is for lower taxes and I can't imagine anyone not agreeing with that. She said she would try to eliminate the state income tax. I would also agree with that. Her positions on improving small businesses by getting rid of some of the regulations and taxes that burden them is an outstanding idea.

She is ready to stand up and say "I support the Constitution" and I really like that. She is against the huge health care bill recently passed by our U.S. Congress and I agree with that as well. I think Marla is right when she says this bill will have to be paid for by my great-great-grandchildren and beyond.

I have listened to her on a few occasions and she has a plan. She wants less government intruding in our lives and so do I. She wants better education and so do I. She thinks maybe we should start by focusing on the student, I agree.

Marla Lawson has a lot of good ideas. She isn't part of the establishment. She will be a breath of fresh air in our state capitol. I know I'm going to vote for her and I think you should to. I would urge all citizens of District 22 to vote for Marla Lawson for state senate. She will be an outstanding senator.

My name is Jeff Broome. I am the exiting precinct committee person for Mountain Home Precinct #5, elected in the 2008 primary. I have given up my position in this election cycle to allow another citizen to rotate into the people's seat. The founding fathers were farmers and only intended a term of one or two terms in political office and no thoughts of a party system.

I have been impressed with Marla Lawson since meeting her in 2008 at a small conservative Barn meeting. This small group of dedicated limited government conservatives made the meeting a big hit. Marla Lawson, in that same vein, is out meeting the people. This indicates her conservative values have not changed.

These are the hallmarks of how I know her. She is a people person wanting to know the issues that effect your daily life while enjoying the fruits of your labor.

I hope everyone will show up at your pole location May 25 and vote. Vote for Marla and allow a conservative solution like our founding fathers wished. Remember the founding fathers never wanted a central bank to issue our money 200 years later.

Marla has the solutions we need at this time. Please vote in the primary and let your voice be heard.
