Letter to the Editor

Corder is serious about his responsibilities

Friday, May 14, 2010

Dear editor:

I refuse to give into the political banter and lambasting that tends to fill the editorials on the forefront of election day. I was raised to search out the facts and make a decision based on facts, not on media or those that claim they know the facts and have studied up.

The fact is that the world is not headed in a good direction. We cannot continue to put the responsibility of our current condition on Washington government and local legislation. We are all responsible for the position we currently find ourselves in.

Most would say that I am biased and my vote is obvious, I am okay with that. Sen. Corder is my father and I would be negligent if I did not point out a few facts about a great man that has served this district with honesty and integrity and your interest on his shoulders.

Fact #1: Senator Corder does not take his responsibility lightly. This is not a position that he would search out for fame and most certainly not fortune. Take time to visit with the senator, family or not, you will see that the heavy weight of his responsibility is forthcoming in his face, language, and attitude. You will find that each burden, issue, policy, bill -- wrong, or right -- you have asked him to address, he carries that with him and gives 110 percent to correct, provide an answer, fight for and do everything within his power to produce the desired outcome.

He may not get the desired outcome, but I guarantee it was not from lack of attempt.

Fact #2: Sen. Corder does not lack the ability to lead District 22. Research his bills and votes. Do not consider your research from media and local newspapers adequate proof. You will find that what media presents is not the complete story. Thank goodness the senator does his research, and reads beyond the media and beyond what interest groups would have you believe. Sen. Corder has voted in favor of bills that affect him as a business owner, family man and citizen. I assure you that he can tell you exactly why he voted that way and you would walk away with a comforting feeling knowing you had someone in the legislature truly looking after your interest.

Fact #3: The senator truly wants to hear from you and understand your concerns. He spends many hours traveling to all areas of the district to ensure your voice is heard at many types of venues. You can even call the senator directly or send an email. He will respond to you.

It has been a privilege sharing my father with each of you. There is nothing more rewarding than observing the honesty and integrity he serves each of us with.

We each have a decision to make on May 25. I urge you to search out the truth, look at the facts, investigate, and make an honest decision before you check the box.

Father or not, the undeniable fact is that he is the man that will spend unknown hours and sleepless nights to ensure he is giving each of us 110 percent.
