The Mountain Home City Council unanimously approved plans to annex 20 acres of land into the city for future use as a community recreation center.

In a meeting Monday evening, the council also approved a separate request to rezone the property for commercial use by the Western Elmore County Recreation District.

Monday's vote followed recommendations made by the city's planning and zoning commission at its regularly scheduled meeting May 3. The initial recommendation also passed on a unanimous vote.
