Crime stats drop in 2009

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Following a spike in reported crimes the previous year, Mountain Home saw a nearly 27 percent drop in criminal activity in 2009, according to a report from the Idaho State Police.

The 898 reported offenses last year also represents a 14 percent, across-the-board drop in crime over the past 10 years, said Mountain Home Police Chief John Walter.

In fact, 2009 was the second time over the last 10 years that the city fell below 900 reported cases of illegal activity during a 12-month period.

  • I have to chuckle... Maybe the fact that the prior police chief was arrested how many times??? That could be part of the reduced offenses.

  • Now I understand why the police are going after the felony illegally parked vehicle and the notorious abandoned vehicle. Priorities, don't cha know. With the reduction of crime, maybe the city could save money by reducing their overloaded police force.
