The Mountain Home Lady Tigers continued their dominance of SIC 4A teams, rolling to impressive wins over Kuna and Columbia, clinching the conference crown in doing so.

Lady Tigers 11, Kuna 1

Once again, the Mountain Home Lady Tigers and Kuna Lady Kavemen got together for a conference showdown last Tuesday, and once again Mountain Home proved it is head and shoulders above anyone else in the conference, as they clobbered the Lady Kavemen 11-1 in five innings.

The Lady Tigers sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning, scoring seven runs, and added four more in the third. Kuna managed an unearned run in the fifth but the ball game was ended by the 10-run rule-- over in an hour.

Arlene Futch and Nickayla Skinner both had three hits, Futch had a double and RBI. Skinner hit her 12th home run of the season, a three-run shot in the second inning. Madison Siefferman, Jennica Quintal and Megan Kelly each had two hits. Kelly knocked on two runs and Quintal and Siefferman each had one RBI. Lindsay Sessions and Courtney Christiansen also had hits.

Skinner scattered five hits while striking out 11.

Mountain Home Lady Tiger coach Chris Asbury was pleased with the efforts.

"It was a very big game. If we can hold serve here, we can lock up the number one seed going into district, which means we host the first two games, so that's a big advantage for us there.

"We're definitely not overlooking our next three opponents, but (our) scary offensive lineup out there is fun to watch."

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 11-0 in conference and 18-2 overall. They held a two-game lead over Kuna.

Lady Tigers 15, Columbia 1

Mountain Home wrapped up the conference crown Thursday at Columbia, clobbering the Lady Wildcats 15-1 in five innings.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 8-1 lead after three and put the game away with seven runs in the fourth.

Nickayla Skinner improved to 16-0 on the season, giving up just two hits and an unearned run while striking out 11. She helped her cause at the plate with two hits, including a three-run home run.

Megan Kelly had three hits and an RBI. Arlene Futch had two hits and scored three runs. Blas Lord, Charde Huntington, Madison Siefferman and Jennica Quintal, also had hits, Lord and Huntington each knocked in two runs.

"It was one of these windy, cold days that felt more like February than this close to May," Coach Asbury said. "At this point in the year, we're just blessed to have the offense that we have and Nick in the circle. We're putting up a lot of runs and it takes a lot of the pressure off everybody if everybody does their part."

Asbury was happy with the win, which clinched the conference title, giving them the number one seed in the district tourney, which starts May 10.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 12-0 in conference and 19-2 overall. They played at Skyview Tuesday and close out their regular season schedule Thursday at Bishop Kelly.

They open District III 4A softball play at home on Monday against Bishop Kelly at Eastside Park.
