Letter to the Editor

Corder too liberal, Lawson is best for us

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Dear editor:

It is a pity that people who were elected to a position to do a certain duty as representatives of those who elected them fail to honor that trust and "Throw the Bums Out" has become the customary slogan.

They're not becoming the voice of the people so let's find someone who will.

I have listened to and spoken with Marla Lawson about this very subject and that is one reason she is running for Dist. 22 state senator.

I like her ideas of less government, lower taxes, better education, the rule of constitutional law and her stand on welfare.

I believe she can be the glue between the house and senate because she takes action from the people's perspective. She is very sincere when she speaks about representing each individual.

I would encourage all the people of both Boise and Elmore counties to take a close look at our incumbents and hold them accountable for the mess we're in.

We need a new senator in Dist. 22.

One of Mr. Corder's senate votes made me somewhat bewildered. HCR 55 called for a study of implementing a random drug testing program for adults receiving welfare. The House passed it with a majority and only 11 NO votes. It passed the Senate 19 to 16. Mr. Corder voted NO.

I don't understand his motivation for a NO vote. Our welfare programs are being abused by those who should not be on welfare. HCR 55 would be a great way to screen some of them out.

Mr. Corder has shown to be a liberal voter. I have seen some of his correspondence explaining his position on issues and I believe the Republican Party is not for him.

I guess I have a lot more respect for politicians who lead by being the backbone of their elected party platform. Marla Lawson has demonstrated that she has that backbone.

"Throw the Bums Out." It's time to clean house.

I urge everyone to get out and vote May 25. Let's restore government by the people and for the people. In the Dist. 22 senate race, vote for Marla Lawson. She will represent the people.
