City P&Z approves rec district land annexation

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Plans to potentially build a community recreation center in Mountain Home moved a step ahead following initial approval of a request to annex 20 acres of land into the city.

Conducted during the city's planning and zoning meeting Monday evening, the commission also recommended approving a second request to rezone the property for commercial use by the Western Elmore County Recreation District.

Located on S. 18th East Street across from Mountain Home Junior High School, the recreation district purchased the property several years ago while it pursued plans to build a community recreation facility there.
