Gregoria, his wife of 53 years, preceded him in death in 1996.
Jose is survived by his five adult children, their spouses and his beloved granddaughter, Anna.
He was a successful sugar beet grower with farming operations in several southern Idaho counties, including Cassia, Minidoka, Twin Falls, Payette, and Elmore.
A long-time member of the Food Producers of Idaho, Jose was politically active in national legislation for sugar prices and minimum wage, advocated for migrant workerıs rights and spearheaded development of the Hammett Labor Camp.
For the past eight years, he resided at Mitchell Place Apartments, Federal Way, Wash.
