Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts at the home meet.

"I thought our kids ran well at home, we just came up a little short place-wise. Middleton got us in both the girls and boys, but I thought, with our guys being young, I thought they had a real good performance.

"We had some depth that kind of came through scoring some points, and our girls are just solid. We can't take anything away from Middleton, they're a good team, but we're still running well. Our times are coming down and we're just jugging along getting ready for district, trying to figure out where we can place everybody, and that's basically why we have our meets during the year."

Mountain Home sent a number of athletes to the Bandana Invitational at Mountain View High School on Friday and Saturday.

Host Mountain View won the girls' competition. Mountain Home ended up tied for 17th with Rigby. There were 24 teams competing.

Mountain Home's points came from a fourth place for Shelby Posey in the discus, a fourth-place effort by the 4x200-meter relay team of Shelby Henrick, Lauren Moore, Jessica Tindall and Jessica Liercke, a sixth place by the 4x100-meter relay team of Jasmyne Moore, Lauren Moore, Jessica Tindall and Jessica Liercke, a seventh place by Jessica Liercke in the triple jump and eighth-place finishes by the 4x400 (Jessica Tindall, McKenzie Sandberg, Marissa Streeter and Shelby Henrick) and 4x800-meter relay (Jordan Vivier, Haley Schaefer, Ashley Mayberry and Kacee Cameron).

Eagle edged Elko by a half a point to win the boys' competition.

Mountain Home came in 21st overall.

Tyree Harmon had fourth-place efforts in the 110-meter high hurdles and the triple jump. He also placed eighth in the long jump.

Mountain Home's 4x800-meter relay team of Gavin Cline, Devonte McClain, Dylan Johnson and Jovanne Carrizales came in eighth.

Coach Urquidi thought they did well considering the tough competition.

"It was a really good track meet. There were quality kids in everything. We had Nevada schools there, we had schools from the east. There were 5As and 4As there. We took just a limited amount of kids, but the weather was finally nice and I think everybody ran times that were their best times of the year."

The Tiger thinclads travel to Vallivue Friday for a meet that Coach Urquidi says is set up in relays.

"We're going to have four kids in each event, and it's kind of a relay thing, so the best three times out of those four, they add them up and they give the medals off that, so we're looking forward to that. It's kind of a little different setup for a meet and there's just going to be four teams, Vallivue, Caldwell, Kuna and us, so we're looking forward to getting some good times and keep bringing our times down."
