WECRD launches youth sports grant program

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

The Western Elmore County Recreation District announced plans last week to launch a grant program to benefit local non-profit youth sports and recreation programs.

In a special meeting April 8, representatives from various non-profit sports programs met with the recreation district board to iron out the details behind the Let's Play initiative.

The Let's Play grants aim to "enhance the quality of existing non-profit youth recreation programs in western Elmore County," according to a press statement released by the recreation district last week.

  • So here it comes, after the public was made aware of how much the WECRD doesn't do with our tax money, now they want to seem like they're doing good. I would like to see this money go to something the kids could use, like a city sports complex, that the city parks and rec staff doesn't have to work around the local school's schedule for their programs. We don't need a huge money pit with a indoor swimming pool, the city is in the red running the pool, and I can bet you so is the base. I think our only hope is for a person to take charge that doesn't have their own agenda and wants in mind!

Too little, too late. How about doing something good when no one is looking instead of waiting until there's a dust up?

  • WOW It only took 10 years for the WECRD to put some of our tax dollars back into the community where it is intended to be.

Ok so 10 years for the WECRD to finally wise up and give back to the community that has been funding the checkbook they have used so freely. Guess it will take another 10 years before Ms. Marsh's vision of a pool is built. Glad to help you out there Ms. Marsh.
