WECRD agrees to withdraw HUD application

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The Western Elmore County Recreation District decided to withdraw its federal application for funds during a special meeting held Tuesday morning.

The decision was made to help ease community concerns regarding the WECRD's support for a community recreation plan being developed by the Treasure Valley YMCA and the local Community Leadership Development Committee.

"The cooperative process that has been underway the past few months with the WECRD, CLDC and YMCA has the potential to give our community new avenues for recreation," long-time board member Mollie Marsh said after voting to withdraw the controversial application.

  • It is very unlikely that you will see my name on the ballot for anything WECRD Board related. It will be a cold day when I am held accountable for the acts of this bunch (and all other WECRD Board members prior) over the last 10 years. Not interested. I like my current "volunteer" position and that keeps me plenty busy.
