Lion's Club member offers thanks

Saturday, March 27, 2010

Dear editor:

I first and foremost want to thank every single person that attended the Lion's Club Bowling for Sight fundraiser this last Saturday night.

With the help and wonderful support of all that attended, the Lions Club was able to raise more than $3,000. I am so impressed and encouraged with how the Mountain Home community came together for this worthy cause!

Because of all of you, the Lions Club is able to do all the things for you, this community, and surrounding community. All I can say is thanks so much, and "WOW," you all are the greatest!

The people of Mountain Home have always answered the call to so many organizations when in need. I am so proud that they came and helped out the Lions Club Saturday night. This is the biggest reason that I love living here, just great community support!

I hoped everyone had a ton of fun Saturday night. I know that a lot of Lions members did, as well as myself.

The Liercke team took the traveling trophy home with an average score of 146.5, with Robby Robinson's team coming in second with a average score of 142.13.

I want to give a special thanks to the following people that helped me put on this fantastic event:

- John and Andrea Feenstra, they donated an oyster and steak feed for two couples at their house as an auction item. John is having the oysters flown in fresh, which is a huge expense.

- Shane and Jennika Zenner donated themselves as an auction item. Shane is mowing John Cristobal's yard in a short dress and his Lion's vest, while Lennika is serving John snacks and beverages of his choice.

- Police Chief John Walters donated himself also as an auction item. He will caddy one day in his Lions vest and possibly a dress.

- Kenda Schroeder made a fantastic quilt for an auction Item.

- Kim Sykes donated her time helping me get everything done in time.

- Randy Valley donated a ton of time and also helped out Saturday night with the Calcutta.

- Daryl Rhead for doing the auction that night.

- The COPs for giving people rides home after the fundraiser.

- Barbra Rambert and her friend, Charlie. They were really busy helping out Saturday night.

- Freedom Lanes Bowling Alley, thanks for letting us have our fundraiser there.

- Last, but not least, Mike Miller for making the traveling trophy. It took him a while and if you see it you will know why. It came out fantastic.

Thank you one last time Mountain Home community, and all that attended to make this fundraiser such a huge success. Thank you is not even enough; words cannot express my gratitude to each and everyone that attended. Thank you all so, so much, and see you next year!

Rich Sykes, Mountain Home Lion
