MOMs group to discuss how to help troops

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

The local chapter of the Mothers of the Military (MOMs) will meet at the Mountain Home Public Library meeting room on Saturday, March 20, from 1-3 p.m.

Carolyn Landry, one of the members of the group, will give a brief presentation on groups and resources that support deployed service members. The group also will discuss packaging and mailing of "care" packages and items most wanted or needed.

Children are not encouraged to attend as space is limited.

The MOMs chapter here and in other Idaho locations works and serves as supports group for friends and families of service members. Group meetings are open to anyone who supports the troops and would like more information on how to do so. There is no membership fee to join the organization.

The Mountain Home chapter of the MOMs was started at the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom when several mothers in the local community gathered together for moral support and help in dealing with having children serving overseas.
