Paul's robbed at gunpoint

Thursday, March 11, 2010
The suspect is shown on a surveillance camera at Paul's Market.

Paul's Market was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night at about 10:30 p.m.

The suspect was described as a white male, 30-40 years old, approximately 5'8" to 6'2", blonde with blue eyes, about 220 lbs., wearing dark pants, Nike shoes and dark jacket with an orange undershirt. He wore a dark ski mask during the robbery and wore safety glasses over the mask.

The suspect is believed to have been hiding in the store when employees began closing up at about 10:30 p.m. He approached the store employees and informed them they were being robbed. It is not believed there were any customers in the store at the time.

The two store employees were escorted into the customer courtesy desk area where the robbery took place. They were not harmed during the incident. A Mountain Home Police Department spokesperson was not immediately sure if the money had been taken from the safe or the tills but said the receipts in the store at the time were taken. That amount has not been disclosed.

The suspect left the store through the back entrance. Authorities received the report of the robbery at 10:40 p.m. and were on scene at 10:42 p.m.

Anyone with information about the robbery is being asked to contact the Mountain Home Police Department Investigations Bureau at 587-2101 or remain anonymous by using the police department website, www.mhpd.net, and click on the Silent Witness link to report the crime.

  • And People wonder why many people like me carry a concealed weapon. I have no issue with defending myself and others if someone points a gun at me. If everyone was packing than people would think twice about being stupid and robbing someplace. Think about it; if you where a criminal would you try and mug an armed cop or an unarmed little old lady? Or if there was no penalty for speeding other than a warning what are the chances more people would speed...about 100% There is a great video clip of a guy going into a gun store and pulling a gun to rob the place (he thought it was a jewelry store) and five customers opened up on him killing him before he hit the ground. I love self defense its better than being a victim over and over and over....

To heck with concealed carry. I carry in the open so the bad guys don't make a BAD mistake. Hope everyone at Paul's is ok. And I hope they catch the jerk and give him what he deserves.

  • Do we really have to have the picture of the gun pointing at us to get their point across? Seems really inappropriate.

  • It's called the victims view (the gun pointing at you), this is also known as the California or Gun Law view. After all who follows the laws...not criminals.

  • Looks like he is talking on a cell phone. Could there be others involved?

Yeah, because Moutain Home is flooded with armed robbers and everyone should constantly carry a gun. That'll solve everything....(sarcasm) or turn this town into an old west shooting gallery. That's fun for the whole family.

  • I would rather be in the old west shooting gallery, than herded into a cooler and killed......I am sure that I would take the private citizen who bother to go through the hoops to get that concealed permit a heck alot more than the criminal that shot me.......

Oh yea I like this graphic much better than the gun graphic MHN's had on earlier...

Censored, good to see you're still with us.

It is PROVEN fact that areas of the country that allow their citizens to openly carry and/or obtain concealed weapon permits have a lower crime rate per capita than those that have strict gun laws. And areas that require their citizens to own guns have some of the lowest rates of all. Go ahead, say they also have more gun accidents..it's all bunk. My kids have been around my weapons since they were born and I've never had a child use a gun for anything other than it was intended for.

Does anyone see the similarity to this robbery and teh one in Gooding a few days ago? Hopefully our local law enforcement do too and are following up on it.

  • Censored, you sound like a victim to me. England and Australia have a couple things in common. They both make it illegal to own hand guns except for a dealer/collector and almost make it impossible to get into that category. They also have another thing in common; they have some of the highest violent crime involving handguns in the world. As for your sarcasm about we have so much crime in this town. I can name a bank that was robbed in the last 6 months, a pawn shop that was robbed and liquor store that was held up within the last year all in our small little town. But if you still think that is not very much crime, it could because people know a large percentage of this town carries concealed or open.
