Following 141 years of tradition, the local Elks lodge symbolically built the foundation of its new building during a dedication ceremony Friday evening.

Built on the site where its former lodge once stood, the ceremony emphasized the Elks' guiding principles of charity, justice, brotherly love and fidelity.

One by one, senior members of the lodge placed ceramic tiles on a table in the middle of the main banquet room, each tile representing one of these guiding principles.
