Fundraisers launched for wounded teen

Sunday, February 28, 2010

The local Pizza Hut has joined family and friends raising money to help a Mountain Home teen wounded during an accidental shooting earlier this month.

The benefit for Leonard Partinda runs from 5-9 p.m. March 8 at the Airbase Road restaurant with 20 percent of each sale during the evening going to cover the teen's medical expenses.

In addition to the benefit at Pizza Hut, others in town also have stepped up to raise money for the Partinda family. The staff at Kurly's Restaurant and Lounge raised approximately $600 during a raffle on Superbowl Sunday. In addition to buying tickets, some people offered personal donations, including $100 and $50 contributions.

  • For all the WECRD and other things going on now were being told There is agrave threat to Saturday mail delivery. USPS like most Govt. offices are abusing their spending habits. Why right here in Mountain Home the Postmaster has authorized mail delivery on private roads. This is a no no. Waterdog is a private road and they get service because someone there knows how to manipulate the system. For shame for shame. I bet the residents of Stetson subdivision would like mail delivered too. There are many more residents out there per mile. They have to commute all the way to the main road for service. Fifteen mail boxes nailed up out there at the end of Lariat. Who does our postmaster know on Waterdog?

  • Ok 20% going to medical bills...where is the other 80% going? But the 20 dollar questions is shouldn't the lock picking pistol packing toddlers mother pick up the medical bills? Let's have a fund raiser and give the money to the wounded teen and his family for other expenses' they might have like gas traveling back and forth to Boise...ect

  • I would imagine the other 80% is helping cover the cost of doing business. No one person or entity can cover the entire cost. I was always taught to smile and say thank you when somebody offered to help you out, no matter how big or small the contribution was. I would imagine that the family is very grateful for any and all donatons at this time. I know I would be.

  • The fundraiser was, from what I saw, a HUGE success! It was touching to see so many people packing into Pizza Hut to help the family. During the time I was there the whole place was packed and the phone was ringing off the hook. Way to go Mtn Hm!
