Members of the fair board presented Earl Gardner with a plaque naming him grand marshal of the 2010 fair.

The Elmore County Fair Board has named Glenns Ferry resident Earl Gardner its Grand Marshal for the 2010 Elmore County Fair and Rodeo.

Fair board members paid a surprise visit to the VFW Hall last week where Gardner and other veterans were enjoying the VFW's monthly potluck, to make the announcement.

Gardner was a member of the fair board for eight years, serving as a past chairman. He has been actively involved in the annual fair for many years, helping on the gate and with whatever job he is asked to perform. Several years ago, he helped spearhead the planting of trees along the fairground's northern perimeter.
