Tax error bills in the mail

Friday, February 26, 2010

The Elmore County Treasurers Office sent out notices last Friday reminding people of how much additional money they owe in property taxes following an error by the state tax commission.

People began receiving the messages Saturday depending on their mail routes with others receiving their notifications earlier this week.

Miscalculations made by the Idaho State Tax Commission in late January resulted in a lower tax bill than should have been issued for taxpayers in the city of Mountain Home. To make up the shortfall, the county is requires property owners in Mountain Home to pay up to $116 per $100,000 of taxable assessed valuation by June 20.
