Authorities make marijuana bust

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Matthew T. Pehrson, a staff sergeant at Mountain Home AFB, was arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana) after a raid on his home at 380 S. 3rd East St. in Mountain Home, Wednesday.

The Elmore County Sheriff's Office, along with Mountain Home Police and agents of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, executed the warrant at the residence where Pehrson was living and where authorities believed they had reason to suspect marijuana was being grown.

Authorities found a room in the basement of the residence "that had been constructed and at one time housed approximately 50 plants of marijuana," the sheriff's office said in a prepared statement. They did not disclose how many plants were found at the time of the raid.

Pehrson currently is being held in the Elmore County jail on the charge.

Pehrson is assigned to a unit in the 366th Operations Group.

The investigation is continuing and authorities expect to make additional arrests.
