Census needs part-time help for 2010 count

Friday, February 5, 2010

Local representatives with the U.S. Census Bureau need people on a part-time basis to serve as census takers in coming months.

Officials said the temporary positions include 20- to 40-hour work weeks and require employees to work evenings and weekends to interview local residents regarding the 2010 Census.

To qualify, people must be at least 18 years old with a valid Social Security number and either a U.S. citizen, a legal permanent resident or non-citizen with an appropriate work visa. Candidates must complete a 28-question employment test and attend a four-day training workshop.

For more information, call Bob Benbough at 587-2740, contact the U.S. Census Bureau toll free at 866-861-2010 or go online to www.2010censusjobs.gov.

  • What happened to all the people that already tested last year at the local Idaho Department of Labor Office. None of those that were tested by Zee have not been hired. WHY.

  • They have had lot apply, some of those tested very high. Those that were tested back in April have not even had the opportunity to TURN THEM DOWN. How intrusive can the shortest census questionare in history be? I would like to just see the people that were intested in the Census last April still be given the opportunity to work now.
