Charges filed in fatal crash

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

A Kimberly man allegedly involved in a fatal crash on I-84 this summer entered a not-guilty plea on charges of vehicular manslaughter during an arraignment in magistrate court Dec. 10.

Conner B. Moody stands accused of causing a rear-end collision on the interstate July 21 that killed Megan N. Bartley of Pocatello.

The accident occurred at exit 99 minutes after authorities closed a section of the interstate due to an unrelated incident at milepost 97. According to previous police reports, Bartley stopped her car on the westbound side of the interstate for a roadblock set up minutes earlier. Moody, also traveling westbound, allegedly hit her vehicle from behind.

Bartley died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Moody was transported by ambulance to Elmore County Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Moody's preliminary hearing on the misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge is currently scheduled for Jan. 6. At the earliest, he could face trial in mid-March.
