Tiger sophomores bounce back

The Mountain Home Tiger sophomores came away with a split of their games last week, losing at Jerome and winning at Emmett.

Jerome 42, Mountain Home 38

A fourth quarter Mountain Home rally fell short as the Tiger sophomores boys lost 42-38 Tuesday night at Jerome. Mountain Home went over half the first quarter before scoring and trailed 13-5 after a quarter. They trailed 23-14 at the half and were down 35-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

Mountain Home rallied in the fourth quarter and a basket and free throw by Tyler Elliott pulled the visiting Tigers within one, 39-38, with 42 seconds left. Jerome hit three of four free throws down the stretch to hang on and win 42-38.

Jeff Land had a season-best 15 points to lead Mountain Home. Michael Daniels added seven points, Luke Filipovich netted six, Chaise Hopkins and Tyler Elliott had three each and Garrett Burton and Jared Day both scored two.

Tigers 57, Huskies 27

Mountain Home went on a 14-0 run in the first quarter to break open a close game on their way to 57-27 conference win over the Emmett Huskies at Emmett Friday night. The first quarter run helped the Tigers go out to a 19-5 first-quarter lead. They led 29-9 at the half, and 44-21 heading into the fourth.

Three Tigers scored in double figures at Emmett. Luke Filipovich scored 14, Jeff Land netted 12 and Michael Daniels added 10 points. Tyler Elliott put in seven points, Jared Day and Chaise Hopkins both scored six and Garrett Burton had two points.
