The Mountain Home girls JV basketball team picked up two more wins last week with conference wins over Nampa and Kuna.

Mountain Home 33, Nampa 32

Mountain Home won an exciting one last Tuesday night at Nampa when Courtney Christiansen stole the ball and scored a lay-up as time expired to give the Lady Tigers a 33-32 win.

Mountain Home started slow and trailed 12-5 after a quarter. They cut the deficit to one, 16-15, at the half, but were up one, 23-22, heading into the final period.

The Lady Tigers found themselves down 32-31 in the closing seconds when Courtney Christiansen stripped the ball from a Nampa player at halfcourt and dribbled down to score an uncontested lay-up as time expired for the 33-32 win.

"It certainly was an interesting turn of events," said Lady Tiger JV basketball coach Stehvn Tesar, "especially when our intention was to foul, but, hey, we will be more than happy to accept gifts before Christmas."

Jasmyne Moore led a balanced Mountain Home scoring attack with nine points, Courtney Christiansen netted eight, Kelsey Egusquiza had five, Kelly Robins and Hailey Belt each had four and Keesha Janis scored three.

Mountain Home 44, Kuna 31

The Lady Tigers built up a big lead on Kuna and were able to withstand a fourth-quarter rally when Kuna finally warmed up its shooting eye, Mountain Home prevailed 44-31 Friday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

Mountain Home shot out to a 9-0 lead and led 12-2 after a quarter. The Tigers stretched it to 27-10 at the half and took a 39-16 lead into the fourth quarter.

Kuna finally warmed up their shooting, hitting the first 10 points of the quarter to cut the lead to 39-26. From there, the two teams matched points, Mountain Home winning 44-31.

Kelsey Egusquiza led the Mountain Home scoring attack with 17 points. Keesha Janis added 11, Jasmyne Moore scored 10 and Hailey Belt put in six points.
