JV Tiger wrestlers claim invitational tourney title

The Mountain Home Tigers JV team captured the annual Gary Miles Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.

The Tiger JV won the tourney with 112 points, Centennial was second with 71, Buhl third with 62, Glenns Ferry fourth with 54, Owyhee, Nev., was fifth with 39, Cambridge sixth with 28 and Timberline seventh with 17.

Mountain Home had four champions. Colton Cook won the 119-lb. weight class, Eric Ward took the 130, Tomas Garza won the 140 and Juan Silva captured the 135. Mountain Home's Jared Cantrell finished second in the 112-pound weight class while Perry Savage was also second in the 140-pound category.

Third-place efforts went to Nick Cruz (119), DJ Hale (135), Tyler Oyler (285) and Sergio Guadarrama (171).

Forrest Ingram (119), Austin Seegrist (215) and Jeff Checketts (189) all finished fourth.

"Our JV team ended up winning the tournament, and that was great," said Tiger wrestling coach Lynn Knudson. "We had four champions and a lot of placers in there, so yeah, it was a good effort for Mountain Home."
