'Fall back' this Sunday as DST ends

Saturday, October 31, 2009

It's time to "fall back" this weekend, as Idaho goes off daylight savings time.

Officially, the change occurs at 2 a.m. Sunday morning when clocks should be set back to 1 a.m.

In practice, most people make the change when they go to bed Saturday night.

  • File this one under "never too old to learn."

I'd been using the phrase "daylight saving time" incorrectly myself, but I read about the origins and proper usage a couple years ago. We hear and read "daylight SAVINGS time" instead of "daylight SAVING time." (No "s" on the end of saving.)

I'll check back in March to see if the Mountain Home News catches this minor faux pas for the next time change. Thanks. BB
