Firemen pour water through a roof vent to help put out the fire.

A fire at 883 Colthorp in Mountain Home Thursday caused extensive damage to the roof and attic crawlspace area of the home.

No one at the residence of Jeff and Jennifer Lutrell was home at the time. At least one of the family's two cats was rescued by firemen.

Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department crews where called out to the fire, reported by neighbors, at approximately 1 p.m. Upon arrival smoke was pouring from the attic and crews quickly attacked the fire. Fire crews were forced to vent the roof in order to reach all of the fire, which filled the house with smoke.

The immediate cause and extent of damage is not known. For more details see next week's Mountain Home News.
