JV Tigers fall to Knights

The Mountain Home Tigers JV football team dropped a 28-13 football contest to the Bishop Kelly Knights' JV last Thursday at Bishop Kelly.

Bishop Kelly scored in the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead and led 20-6 at halftime. Mountain Home's score in the second quarter came on a five-yard run by Tyler Knauth.

Bishop Kelly scored again in the third quarter to up its lead to 28-6,. The Tigers closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter when Chaise Hopkins intercepted a Bishop Kelly pass and ran it back 52 yards for a score. Austin Clark's point-after try made it a 28-13 final.

"We did not come ready to play," said Mountain Home Tigers JV head football coach Dallan Rupp. "We lacked the intensity and focus it takes to win."

The Tigers rushed for 191 yards on the game, led by Austin Clark with 95 yards on 14 rushes. DJ Hale had 81 yards on 14 carries, and Tyler Knauth rushed three times for 15 yards and a score.

Tyler Knauth completed two of 11 passes for 20 yards. Luke Filipovich had one catch for 15 yards, and Ricky Castillo caught one pass for five yards.

Defensively, Jesse Corbett had another great game with 15 tackles. Jeff Checketts had six tackles, Luke Filipovich had five tackles, Ricky Castillo four tackles and a pass interception, and Chaise Hopkins had three tackles and a pass interception returned for a touchdown.

The Tigers take on Nampa's JV Thursday night at Nampa.
