Kids enjoy firemen's open house

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Kids with their parents lined up for a chance to ride the fire trucks last Thursday.

Last Wednesday, over 1,000 local children and their parents made their way to Fire Station #1 for the annual Fire Prevention Open House in celebration of Fire Prevention Week.

The event began as families lined up from the station all the way down toward South 3rd East Street. The first activity for each child in attendance was to ride a fire truck that traveled around the block, giving the families the "firefighter experience."
