Lady Tigers tie Middleton, face shut out against Kuna

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

The Mountain Home Lady Tiger girls soccer team closes out its regular season schedule this week at home. The Lady Tigers suffered a tie and a loss in games last week.

Mountain Home 2, Middleton 2

Middleton scored in the final six minutes to tie the SIC 4A conference girls soccer game at 2-2, which is how the game ended.

Mountain Home managed just four shorts on goal for the game, and Rachel Warila was able to get two through the net.

Anastasia Sansone had five saves on goal and Alyssa Sato had two saves on goal.

The Lady Tigers are now 7-4-1 on the season and 6-4-1 in conference play.

Kuna 4, Mountain Home 0

Hampered by the flu bug and miserable weather, the Lady Tigers were beaten 4-0 by Kuna in an away game last Wednesday.

Mountain Home managed just two shots on goal for the game, while Kuna had 13. Alicen Wendall had nine saves on goal for Mountain Home.

"It was a rough week for us," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Dan Snelgrow. "The flu bug has hit us, and those who managed to miss getting it when it hit us a couple weeks ago, have come down with it this week. Hopefully, we'll get well and bounce back as we close out the season and hit the district tourney.

The loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 7-5-1 on the season and 6-5-1 in conference play.

The Lady Tigers hosted Nampa on Monday with the Mountain Home squad closing out its regular season schedule with senior night today. The District III 4A Girls Soccer Tournament starts Saturday at Skyview.
