Local woman selected for Fox TV poker show

Lora Rinner will appear on the Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge on Fox Network.

Lora Rinner, of Mountain Home, has been selected to appear on the Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge on Fox Network.

Rinner qualified for the show while playing poker on-line at Pokerstars.net, where she had been one of 20 top finalists in a contest on the website.

Each of the finalists had to submit a two-minute You Tube video of them playing poker with two of their friends. After viewing the video and then interviewing her, producers of the Fox Network poker show selected the attractive 37-year-old blonde as one of 11 people who will square off against a series of celebrities playing Texas Hold'em poker.

The players who make it through the first two rounds will then face Daniel Negreanu, one of the world's top poker players, in the final round.

Although she will collect prize money as she advances through the competition, the ultimate prize is $1 million in cash.

Poker is illegal in Idaho

Question,

why is it ok for a Idaho citzen to be on Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge on Fox Network in another State, and if they win a million dollars bring that Money back too the state of Idaho where gaming is illegal?

I have Stage 4 Cancer , if Fox Network had a show called Medical Marijuana Pound Challenge and I won,, could I bring a Pound of Medical Marijuana back to the State of Idaho where Marijuana is illegal too

a Person would think? that the Idaho State Police should contact Fox Network and advise them of Idaho law and advise all persons that all winnings upon return to Idaho should be given to the Idaho Law enforecment as illegal Money

If Lori happens to win money in another state where gaming is legal, she is entitled to have it as she will be taxed on her winnings.

Idaho's gaming law only applies to the state of Idaho. Meaning if you are gambling WITHIN the state of Idaho it's illegal.

If I were to gamble in Jackpot, NV (where gambling is LEGAL) and win a few dollars am I not entitled to bring it back to Idaho? That's just ridiculous.

Idaho is in the 9th Federal Cir, all the states around us Medical Marijuana is legal too,,, its legal in California, Nevada , OR,, HI

yes, under Idaho Rules if you win a jackpot you should not be able to bring it back too Idaho, if you do you should hand over your winnings to law enforcement,sorry...Thats The Law

The drug issue and gambling issue are completely different topics. If the government was smart enough they would legalize marijuana and tax it, just like they do everything else.

Have you tried writing a letter to a Senator or even the Governor of Idaho bringing up the issue to get medical marijuana legalized?

yes many times,,, Ive learn thats not the path to take,,,just enforce the Law it will all come out in the wash, People at some point will see that we do not have equal justice and the law will change by natural process

its citzens turning on each other that will change the law, when husbands and wifes start going to jail,, for things like gaming, people will wake up fast. esp when Idaho has a 151 million dollar shortage in funds

I have to ask how the comments pertain to the orginal article? To use the logic here, if I go to NV to gamble, win, bring the money back to ID and spend it here, am I not stimulating the economy in a legal manner?

Add into this that while Ms. Rinner, might stand a good chance of winning, she has not yet won so aren't some of you putting the cart before the horse?

The Law that allows you to travel too NV and back with winnings (hopefully)is the Intra-State Transportation Laws, Free Travel Pact between States. so thats what protects Lori and you from Idaho taking your winnings as Money taken from illegal sournce, IE Gaming, which is illegal in Idaho.

that same Law system should protect ill people with Cancer who Use Medical Marijuana from jail,but it don't ,Medical Marijuana (like Poker)is legal in every state around Idaho but Idaho

remember,, if there is no free travel pact ,Gaming winnings like Medical Marijuana are not protected and can be taken as illegal source

Basic Law is Pretty CooL

Both are a misdemeanor in Idaho

two friends go too California,, one is sick and uses Medical Marijuana, the other likes to Gamble, both illegal in Idaho, but legal in California.

when on arrival at BOI Airport the one friend with a million dollars winnings the other has a few Medical Marijuana Joints.

Law Enforcement arrests Friend with Medical Marijuana Joints and takes him/her too Jail and legal process, why ,,,, illegal Source

the other Friend is allowed to keep the million dollars winnings,, why,,,,.

Seems Im a cry baby about things,,, but when Cancer doc's cut 9 1/2 pounds out and ya have cancer in every organ and maybe only a few years too live you see thing with diff eyes.

I see my friends Smoke and Drink Beer, then fly off to Gamble and Vacations,, and I can't get around without major pain,, I have to take hard Meds, my meds almost killed me a couple of times. Can't use Medical Marijuana , its not legal, so its the hard meds, shutting down my organs

ya Im crying about it , never thought I would, but did not ever think I would get Caner either.

First off let me say that I am sorry that you have cancer, that is not an easy thing to live with and I feel for you. However, this is not about you, this is about someone who has the chance to go have fun and possibly make some money. Who would not jump at the chance???? I just don't get how something fun for her has been turned into a huge uproar because you want it to be legal to smoke pot???
