Reject Skyview annexation

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Dear editor:

I am an eighth-generation Idahoan. I have lived in Mountain Home for the past three years. I find this proposal to re-zone the rural and agricultural to residential per the request of Skyview Estates ridiculous on these counts.

1. There are inadequate city and county services to all residences of this area at this time. In regard to law enforcement, traffic control, road maintenance, fire protection and overall concern to the well being of all property owners in the surrounding area.

2. The property owners and renters, such as myself, live in this area because of the rural setting and have no desire to be crowded by excessive property development and the excessive traffic congestion that this proposal will encroach on established residents.

3. This proposal, if passed, will also strain the coffers of the city, county and most importantly the taxpayers of the City of Mountain Home and Elmore County.

4. There are too many vacant homes for sale in Mountain Home at this time. And there is no need to build more homes. Especially in an area that should be put to better use raising stock or food to help the poor and those in this community who struggle daily to choose between feeding their families or paying bills.

5. The City of Mountain Home should be using its meager monies to clean up the run-down trailer courts and neighborhoods that already exist to bring up the property values and esthetic quality of this town. After these issues have been addressed and are in working order then consideration for building more homes should be carefully considered.

However, the zoning between 18th Street Canyon Creek Road and north of the interstate should remain agricultural!

I AM STRONGLY OPPOSED to Mountain Home City Council considering this heinous proposal!
