Congratulations on AFAD

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Air Force Appreciation Day was a huge success, thanks to the scores of volunteers who worked on the event, some beginning as early as February.

With our nation at war, hundreds of airmen deployed into war zones, and the Idaho National Guard facing a call-up next spring, it was fitting that the day after 9/11 we honored all the men and women who serve in our armed forces.

The turnout showed how much this community genuinely cares about those who serve.

Next year is the 50th anniversary of AFAD. We encourage area businesses, organizations, churches, etc., to start thinking now about entering a float in the parade. It is never too early to start planning and we'd like to see next year's AFAD the biggest and best ever.

Our congratulations to everyone who helped put AFAD together -- or who took part in it.

Because of your efforts, our reputation as the most patriotic town in Idaho stands firm.
