X-Country squad keeps pace

The Mountain Home Tiger cross country runners travel to Ketchum today for the Wood River Invitational Cross Country meet.

The Tigers ran at the Caldwell Invitational last Friday. The girls finished 10th and the boys 13th.

Mountain View won the girls competition with 57 points, Boise was second with 73, Vallivue third with 89, Bishop Kelly fourth with 123 and Eagle fifth with 135. Mountain Home finished 10th and was the second 4A school to finish.

Jordan Vivier led the Mountain Home girls, coming in 22nd with a time of 21:05.04. Haley Schaefer was 41st (22:09.86), Kacee Cameron was 64th (23:29.73), Shelby McHugh set a new PR in her 67th-place showing (23:40.90), Ashley Mayberry was 72nd (24:13.44), McKenzie Dorr, 73rd (24:22.52) and Jennica Quintal, 84th (26:26.46).

Alicia Reynolds led the JV girls, finishing 73rd (25:58.60), Tiana Svetkovich came in 118th (27:24.60) and Starley Dodge set a new PR in her 167th-place showing (31:26.80).

Mountain View also won the boys competition with 73 points. Bishop Kelly was second with 89, Boise was third with 101. Mountain Home finished 13th, the third 4A school to finish (Skyview was 11th).

Dylan Johnson led the Tiger boys, coming in 32nd with a new PR time of 17:45.78. Joe Gutierrez finished 69th (18:54.54), Gavin Cline finished 86th (19:54.26), Jon Dodge set a new PR with his 89th-place finish (20:07.91), Taylor Croft came in 90th (20:09.49) and Aaron Menhart finished 94th (21:03.15).

Perry Savage led the JV Tiger boys with a new PR in his 130th-place finish (22:01.52). James McGovern finished 164th (22:49.45), Doug Watkins was 209th (24:06.98), Daniel Cartright came in 221st (24:52.06) and Donald Binion was 233rd (26:23.42).

"There were 17 teams entered -- 11 of them 5A," said cross country coach Doug Root. "Our times were better than last year's on this course."
