Tuesday, September 8, 2009

BOISE, ID -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer for adoption wild horses from the Challis Herd Management Area at the BLM Wild Horse Corrals in Boise, September 12 -13, with previews and gentling demonstrations taking place on September 11.

There are 37 fillies ages two to four, 17 geldings ages one to four, and 12 weanlings (six months) that range in color from gray, sorrel, bay, pinto and roan and will be available for adoption on Saturday and Sunday in Boise.

"These horses are healthy and are of good stock. With a little love and dedicated training, these horses will make wonderful companions," said Steve Leonard, BLM Rangeland Management Specialist. "4-H members have halter trained all 12 weanlings, and eight more adult horses will be available that have been halter-trained by foster volunteers," Leonard added.
