Pet concerns misguided

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Dear editor:

I'm sick to death of "so called" concerned citizens for pets.

If you are so concerned about a pet that's been left in a vehicle -- don't write a note.

Have the guts (or whatever you wish to call it) to call the authorities -- the cops, the animal shelter, the vets office, etc., or better yet keep your butt there and confront the owner or take down the license plate go into the building and have the person paged.

I had my dog with me and the outside temperature was 71 degrees. I parked in the shade, had my windows down, and had left a bowl of water in the car.

I was in the store (and believe me I timed it) for no more than 10 minutes.

I'm a member of several animal rights/cruelty organizations and know all the suggestions about leaving your pet in the car.

So if you really cared about the welfare of my pet or anyone else's, you should have made a more concentrated effort to do something other than leaving a piece of paper telling me I had committed a crime. Shame on you. Heck, my phone number was even on my vehicle. Why didn't you just call.
