'Friends' plan huge book sale

Saturday, September 5, 2009

The Friends of the Library will host a "big book sale" in Carl Miller Park on Air Force Appreciation Day, Saturday, Sept. 12, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"Avid readers will find a great opportunity to pick up a variety of books at prices you won't find anywhere else," according to the group's spokesperson, Mike Bradbury.

Hardback books will sell for $1 each, paperbacks at 50 cents. There also will be videos available for $1.

"There is also a cookbook being compiled that will have old-time recipes, and we still need more to fill it." Bradbury said. "If you have an old family recipe and perhaps a story to go with it, please submit it to the Mountain Home library itself, or e-mail Bonnie Sharp at BLSharp@msn.com.

There also will be a general membership meeting at the library on Sept. 17 in the library's rear meeting room. Refreshments will be served and is open to the public. "Memberships will be available, so come on out and support your local library," Bradbury said.
