Cowboy poetry, music gathering will be held at area ranch Sept. 5

Randy Huston is a nationally recognized cowboy poet.

A Western Music and Poetry Gathering will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Broken Circle Cattle Ranch from 4-6:30 p.m.

Performers will include:

* Randy Huston, a Rociada, N.M., rancher who was a 2007 nominated for Western Music Male Entertainer of the Year.

* Paul Harris, a packer from Jackson, Wyo., who offers "an up-tempo repertoire on today's West," organizers said.

* Todd Hoffman, a rancher, veterinarian and poet from Mountain Home.

* Geremy and Grace Nelson, a brother and sister duo from Mackay and Caldwell.

The cost is $20 per person for those 12 years of age and older, and $10 for those under age 12. Tickets, along with directions to the ranch, can be obtained by contacting Ted Hoffman or Fran Woods at 587-6374 or 599-3314, or at brokeno@mindspring.com.

In addition to the featured performers, and open microphone will be offered for local western singers and poets.

The event also will feature a hamburger supper with potato salad, baked beans and homemade cookies for sale after the performance. Water and soft drinks also will be sold. No alcohol is allowed. Free parking is available.
