Hoochie Coochie Men will end summer concert in park season

Friday, August 21, 2009
The Hoochie Coochie Men will perform in Carl Miller Park Aug. 26.

The Hoochie Coochie Men are back.

The last concert in the Summer Concert Series has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26, after a storm canceled their appearance two weeks ago.

The free concert will take place from 6-8 p.m., at Carl Miller Park, and is free to the public. Food will be available for purchase.

Those attending are urged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic blankets to the event, which is sponsored by the city Parks and Recreation Department and the Mountain Home Arts Council.

See the Mountain Home News for the complete story.

  • Funny how a WECRD sponsored event (in part) is scheduled for the SAME date as the WECRD Board Meeting and budget hearing. Budget hearing at 6:00 on August 26, 2009 with the regular board meeting to follow. Funny how that worked out.

  • Hmmm, Just spoke to an individual at Parks and Rec and she told me the concert was scheduled by the Mountain Home Arts Council and the band itself. She went so far as to say they tried to keep it on a Thursday for continuity, but the band couldn't commit to that date.

  • Hmmmmmmmm! Betty Ashcraft is on the AC and also involved with the WECRD. Nice try MM. I will stick with my theory because there are always these "conflicts" with the schedule when Betty is in the mix. Please, enjoy your day.

  • Hmmmm, by "conflict" did you mean "conspiracy"?

Have a nice weekend--see ya next week.

  • Lauric...you are again, showing how little you actually know...

The concert was rescheduled by the Arts Council (not a part of the city, in any way). Aug 26th was the only night Ken Harris (Hoochie Coochie Men)said his band could make it here in August...

I believe Ms. Ashcraft didn't want the concert on this night either...but, again, it was the best that could be done with the Artist, and the Park, and the Arts Coucil...

FYI...the WECRD did not sponsor the event by itself, but it was one of the over 40 Sponsors...like the AC or the Parks and Rec. are going to accomidate one sponsor over any others...duh.
