Beach wins highway district post

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Martin Beach beat out three other competitors in the Tuesday, Aug. 4, election, to become the next commissioner for the Mountain Home Highway District's Subdistrict 2.

By a more than two-to-one margin, Beach bypassed Kenny Davison, Luther Cook and Gregory Nitz for the commissioner seat currently held by Bill Davison, who retires from the subdistrict Oct. 1. Davison served as the city's subdistrict commissioner the past 12 years.

The subdistrict oversees approximately half of Elmore County's roads.

Out of nearly 340 ballots cast during this week's election, Beach claimed 203 with Davison finishing second with 111 and Cook earning 16 and Nitz picking up nine.
