Boy Scouts plan canoe trip, but need some extra craft

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Boy Scout Troop 57, sponsored by the Congregational Church, is planning its Canoe Trek 2009 from July 23-26, when troop members will canoe down the Snake River, launching from Loveridge Bridge and paddling downstream to CJ Strike Dam, portaging around the dam and then continuing downstream.

But to do the trip, the troop needs more canoes. Currently, it has 11 available "but we need more," said Tom Lindsay, Scoutmaster of Troop 57.

"Currently we have 18 boys (ages 11 to 17) and 10 adults that want to participate. That means a minimum of 14 canoes. If we had even more canoes, we would have even more boys participate.

"We will gladly repair any canoe that is not sea worthy prior to use. We also have a canoe trailer to carry the canoes on. We will gladly pick them up from and return them back to their owners. We would like to pick up the canoes on the 18th or 19th of July."

To help out, or for more information, contact Lindsay at 587-5092.
