Early Saturday afternoon at 670 South 3rd West St.,a trailer at Fields Trailer Court, directly behind American Legion Post 101, was fully engulfed in flames.

According to a bystander, the oldest daughter was at home with her siblings, when she smelled smoke. She immediately opened the front door and called for help and preceded to get the children out.

The Mountain Home Fire Department quickly arrived to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings and trailers.

The children were all safe and the home was a total loss.

American Legion Post 101 did not sustain any visible damage, but the building had some minor smoke damage.

According to Chief Phil Gridley, of MHFD, the cause of the fire was unknown.

At this point I am not aware of any fund set up. There are five children, 4 girls and a 24 month baby boy. I do know that they were trying to find a place for them to live or stay. I believe there was $500.00 given from the burn out fund - at least that is what I understood to be. But, that is not a lot when you have children and a single mom. I will try to find out any other info that I can. If anyone is interested I can supply you with the clothing sizes. I don't have them on me currently but can put them on here.
