WECRD says thanks for all the help

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Dear editor:

On Saturday, June 13, the WECRD hosted their fourth annual Kid's Fun Run/Walk at Richard Aguirre Park in conjunction with the Elmore Medical Center's Health Fair.

Because of poor weather with thunderstorms forecasted, Elmore Medical Center decided to cancel their Health Fair.

We proceeded with our event as several kids and adults showed up ready to go. All in all, we had a decent turnout of kids and their families as well as the MHHS Tiger Mascot.

Over half of the kids had never run or walked in a "Fun Run" before.

Thanks to support from this community, what could have turned out to be a non-event went really well and was enjoyed by all. We'd like to thank the businesses for their support of this event with generous donations of gifts, gift certificates and tickets for the runners and walkers.

Last but not least, is a big thanks to the Mountain Home Police Department and Citizens on Patrol for guiding the route and setting up roadblocks. They did a great job.

This was a great community effort.
