Summer theatre to hold Wizard of Oz auditions

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Taunya Page, director of Mountain Home High School's theatre department, is holding auditions for students entering grades 9-12 to produce "The Wizard of Oz" this summer.

In the style of Missoula Children's Theatre, the production will be rehearsed and produced in one week. Students auditioning should be willing and able "to make a considerable time commitment from July 6 - 11 for rehearsals and performances," Page said.

Auditions will be held Monday, June 29, at 10 a.m. in the high school gym. Students should come prepared with a one-minute audition showcasing their best impressions of the characters in the classic Wizard of Oz film. The play is not a musical. No singing is required.

Students are also needed to operate lights and sound, paint the set, and organize costumes.

"This is a great opportunity for teenagers interested in gaining experience in any aspect of theatre," Page said.

No fees are involved.

Questions should be directed to Taunya Page at page210@yahoo.com.
