Judo Club founder finishes fifth at British Open judo competition

Wesley Beach, former Mountain Home resident and founder of the Mountain Home Judo Club, recently finished in fifth place at the British Open judo competion.

The 39-year-old Beach was one of the oldest competitors in the USA Judo Senior B-Level Point tournament. Beach earned a first round bye in the +100 kg division.

In the tournament quarterfinals, Beach defeated Thomas Turner of Great Britain by ippon (top score) in the third minute.

Beach was defeated in the semi-finals by eventual champion Loic Bruziaux of France. In the bronze medal match, Beach was defeated by Zviad Tsikiauri of Great Britain, leaving Beach with his fifth place finish.

Beach is currently enlisted with the United States Air Force and on assignment in England.
