Junior high football limited to only eighth-grade team

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Due to reconfiguration and budget cuts, the Mountain Home School District will only provide an eighth-grade football team during the 2009 season.

Until further notice, Mountain Home School District will no longer provide a seventh-grade football team.

The slack, however, will be picked up at least in part by the Optimist Football program. Students will be eligible to participate in football as long as they meet the Optimist Football requirements.

The requirements to participate in Optimist Football are be 150 lbs. or less, and be no older than 12 years old.

Seventh grade students that do not meet the Optimist Football requirements will be eligible to participate in football for Mountain Home Junior High.

If the student is a 7th grader and meets the requirements to play Optimist Football, they will be participating for Optimist Football.

Optimist Football sign ups are underway now. Contact John Cristobal, Optimist Football president, at 599-1110, for further information.
