Asbury, Skinner receive top conference honors

Mountain Home Lady Tiger softball coach Chris Asbury earned Coach of the Year honors in the Southern Idaho Conference 4A softball and Nickayla Skinner was tabbed Player of the Year in the conference.

Skinner went 25-2 this season in helping to lead the Lady Tigers to Mountain Home's first ever state title.

Earning First Team All-Conference were Arlene Futch at second base and Jennica Quintal in right field.

Second Team All-Conference honors went to Charde Huntington at third base, and Kelsie Hopkins at first base.

Madison Siefferman earned Honorable Mention All-Conference as a utility infielder.

Coach Asbury handed out awards at the teams' end-of-season softball banquet last Tuesday night.

Nickayla Skinner earned the Most Valuable Player award.

Jennica Quintal was tabbed the Most Inspirational Player, Blas Lord earned the Most Improved Player, Jennica Quintal and Arlene Futch shared the Work Horse award, and Ashley Christiansen received the Golden Glove award for her defensive effort behind the plate.

The Lady Tigers went 26-6 overall, winning the conference title, the district title, and the 4A state title.
