City and Chamber officials, as well as staff, are shown with the plaque proclaiming the Desert Mountain Visitor's Center as the Outstanding Visitor's Center for the state of Idaho, the second time it has won the award.

The Desert Mountain Visitor Center of Mountain Home has received the "Outstanding Visitor Center Award" for the State of Idaho.

It is the second time the center has received the award since 1996.

Opened in 1994, the center continues to be a source of pride for the community.

With only a part-time paid coordinator, Evelyn Miller, the center is mainly manned by volunteers.

"I'm overwhelmed we received this award," said Miller. "It is all because of the volunteers that have dedicated their time and service to the visitor center.

"This is a fun place to come and we all enjoy the visitors we meet that are from all over the world."

The center is open year round, seven days a week except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
