Jasmyn Jewett also collected a third-place medal in the long jump, a fourth in the high jump, and also a fourth in the 4x100-meter relay along with Angie Rios, Jessica Tindall and Jessica Liercke. Rios, Tindall, Moore and Sigloh came in fourth in the medley relay.

Pocatello won the boys competition with 69 points, just three points ahead of Minico. Mountain Home was third with 59, Columbia had 57 and Rigby 55.5 to round out the top five.

Mountain Home had three boys that were state champions. Tyree Harmon won the 110-meter hurdles, Garrett Wood won the 300-meter hurdles, and Billy Derome won the shot put.

Derome also had a second place medal in the discus throw, and Wood had a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

Jesse Donez had a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, and a fifth in the 100.

Jacob Allies was sixth in the high jump, and the Mountain Home 4x100-meter relay team of Jesse Donez, Tallon Pauly, Kyle Kerfoot and Garrett Wood finished in sixth place.

Stefen White had an eighth-place effort in the 110-meter hurdles.

Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts at state.

"Our boys, I think that's the first trophy that they've ever got in track and field, so that's pretty special for them. They really worked hard the last two weeks to set themselves up for that, having a great district meet to get people in to state, they did really well. It's been just a great group of senior boys, and they've shown it in football, basketball, and some of those guys went to state in wrestling, and I'm really proud to coach those guys.

"They were fun, and they were good leaders for some of our younger kids that got to go to state and see how that is, so we're really excited for our boys' future. We've kind of got things started off.

"They've kind of been in the girls' shadow for a couple years, and it's been fun to watch them come through.

"I'm proud of our girls, too -- the second year in a row finishing second. Rigby's really tough, but I'm really proud that we got that second place this year, because Coach Shrum and I were talking, about the fact that it was a lot harder this year to get second place than it was last year, just moving people around, and the girls just stepped up. Obviously, we're losing some good seniors that were some key components, but I think we'll be able to step up."

Coach Urquidi also praised the "great effort" he gets from his coaching staff.

"I can't say enough about my staff. We really try to peak at state, and we really did. We had Haley (Schaefer) break a school record (in the 800), and Jasmyn (Jewett) had a school record (in the triple jump) and Kristie (Sigloh in the 200) and our 4x200 relay had two classification records, so I think our philosophy of what we're trying to do is really working right now.

"I'm proud to be their coach. You always look good when you have good athletes, and that's what we certainly had this year."
