Hines' history to be featured at museum talk

Monday, March 30, 2009

Longtime area resident Jim Hines will share his family history at the Mountain Home Historical Museum's First Thursday Luncheon on April 2 beginning at noon at the museum.

Hine's parents were Fred (Pie) and Joy Hines. His paternal grandparents owned and operated an apple orchard in Grand View. His grandmother's kin left her some money and she bought 365 acres of land around 8th and 18th. This land was developed into Mountain Home's first major dairy -- Hines Dairy. Their home was built across from the current Mountain Home Public Library.

Hines graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1960.

His mother was a librarian at the Carnegie Public Library in Mountain Home. His father, Fred (Pie) Hines, was a cook for Aguirre Sheep Ranch before joining the Navy in WWII. He also served as a cook in the Navy.
